Animals Tattoos

There are all types of animals in the ancient Aztec Mayan Inca world. Animals are known as heterotroph which means other organisms must be eaten to be able to survive. In the Aztec Mayan and Inca society, animals were considered a vital part of religious and mythological symbolism. They were often used to indicate different deities and the deities who were, in turn, often associated with different animals. Animals enjoy a central position in Aztec symbolism. Nearly every Aztec deity is represented or associated with one or more animals. So for instance, the jaguar was used to symbolise the highest Aztec deities and was worshipped by the Aztecs. Similarly, the rabbit was used to denote the goddess of fertility named Mayahuel. Apart from representing the deities, animals were also used for everyday symbolism and were frequently used on the Aztec calendar. In such uses, a frog denoted joy, monkey was a symbol of festivity and celebration and butterfly was a symbol of transformation. The Eagle was also considered a powerful symbol in Aztec mythology and was associated with the capital city of Tenochtitlan. It also denoted the Sun deity.Today, these meanings have been added to and morphed into modern-day symbolism. Today, both descendants and admirers of mesoamerican culture pay tribute to the Aztecs in the form of tattoos. People from around the world love the style because of what the tattoos represent, and because the ancient artwork of the Aztec people is beautiful.
